A Very Dr. Seuss First Birthday!

Being the proud mom of twins when it came to their first birthday I couldn't help but think about Dr. Seuss Thing 1 and Thing 2, and my obsessing began.

All I could seriously think about was how I was going to make this all happen without looking like a fourth of July party, Hahaha (Red, White, and Blue color combo) a hint of yellow did the trick. The colors were a gorgeous back drop and the pictures really do pop.

I didn’t want to spend tons of money on decoration BUT I wanted it to look like we actually did, so we had to get crafty! First we decided that we wanted to do a Candy buffet, which usually can get really expensive when you start to factor in apothecary jars to display the candy plus the candy, and it actually was the most expensive thing we did but it was completely worth it. Thanks to this blog I was able to keep the cost for the apothecary jar fairly low DIY Candy Buffet (With this same concept I also made the cupcake stand), and the candy we bought small quatities and stored them. It helps to starts planning months ahead.

We used a  Dr. Seuss Free Printable, they look AMAZING and just the right amount of Dr. Seuss without making it look like too much. I wanted it to be a bit original, I didn’t want to go out and buy everything I found on a party supply store that had The Cat in The Hat in it.

This ceiling streamer idea was all possible due to Housing a Forest
She gives a great explanation on how to do this <3

I have no idea what I would have done without all these ladies blogs and Pinterest, Have a mention my husband has a personal vendetta with this website because it gives me too many ideas and I had plenty without it, Hahaha. Poor guy he gets drag into all my ventures, (Hey I do neeed the muscles).

To thank our little guess for coming we gave Cookie Monsters to those younger than one and tin buckets full of Dr. Seuss stickers, moon dough, erasers, pencils, and glasses to the older ones. (We found the majority of things in the dollar section at Target)

For the food we tried to keep it fairly simple, it consisted of some amazing ham and cheese sliders, (thanks to Annies Eats), Green eggs (Deviled eggs dyed with green food coloring) and Ham; I cooked the ham with a little water green food coloring and a little bit of olive oil, PB&J sandwiches, chips with spinach dip, veggies with ranch, gold fish crackers inside a fish bowl, and Pink Ink Yink Drink (Strawberry lemonade), for dessert we had Vanilla and Chocolate cupcakes, caramel popcorn, and every type of candy that we could find that were either red or turquoise blue =P.

Our big Cat in the Hat we order it from Oriental Trading

We wanted our guess to start their Dr. Seuss experience as soon as they got to the door, for the door I made a wreath with the color theme of our party.  For our entry table we decorated it with Cat in the Hat blocks we found at Sam's Club and a Happy Birthday To You! book by Dr. Seuss, which all of our guess sign wishing the girls a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We had a great time celebrating the first year of life of our two loves, It was a lot of work and attention to detail but everything came out exactly how we wanted it to. Looking forward to celebrating many, many, many more! We love you girls.

Hello my name is Ty, and I have an addiction with anything that has to do with decor. I am a mom of 14 months old twin girls and wife to the most amazing and supportive man. My days are usually a crazy blur, BUT regardless how hectic my day gets I have to feed my addiction with DIY projects, Pinterest, or HGTV (Hahaha, Yes I know is serious). So I decided to document some of my "crazy ventures" (Quoting the Husband). This is My Journey
